The autonomous non-profit organization, comprehensive school “Istochnik,” was created as part of the development strategy of its founding company, Volga-Dnepr Airlines. It has undergone a significant transformation from a suburban elementary school that opened its doors to first-graders in 2005 to today, with 10 successful graduations. Current graduates have already graduated from universities such as MGIMO, St. Petersburg State University, Russian State University for the Humanities, Moscow State University, Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, Kazan Federal University, and major international universities, and are successfully working for the benefit of Russia. <\/p>\n
The school’s core principles are reflected in its mission: The Autonomous Non-Profit Organization General Education School “Istochnik” is a dynamically developing and successful educational institution with an impeccable academic reputation, providing excellent education. The school, as a system, fosters harmoniously developed, socially active, and creative individuals and is designed to provide the necessary and sufficient conditions for the development of children’s inner drive, aimed at developing their physical, intellectual, and spiritual strengths, inner integrity, and civic commitment. <\/p>\n
In 2025, the school celebrated its twentieth anniversary. During this time, we have become even more convinced of the validity and necessity of our project. The school selected the list of areas based on an analysis of the students’ cognitive abilities and needs, the individual interests of each student, and the social demands of parents. <\/p>\n
Istochnik’s vision is to provide a high-quality classical education, combining it with a system of supplementary education within a single school setting. At the school, children study vocals, piano and guitar, dance, learn acting, take clay modeling classes, karate, play football, and enjoy skiing and ice skating in the winter. Everyone can choose an activity they enjoy, expressing their individuality through creativity and sports, which undoubtedly contributes to the development of a well-rounded personality. <\/p>\n
One of the school’s special features is introducing students to the scientific study of the world around them through research activities, developing a sustainable cognitive interest in the process of learning itself, and reinforcing their attitude toward learning as a form of intellectual pleasure.<\/p>\n
We are confident that, with the right technology, learning can be not only hard work but also an engaging learning process, and an atmosphere of joy and engagement will greatly impact the quality of learning.<\/p>\n
Education at Istochnik is based on developmental programs aimed at developing children’s personal, intellectual, emotional, and social skills essential for life in the modern world. English language instruction begins in the first grade, with a significant focus on art, resource conservation, physical fitness, and the broadening of students’ horizons and thinking. Students are given the opportunity to explore various fields and discover their creative potential. <\/p>\n
Our carefully selected teaching staff possesses extensive experience and a high level of culture. Most importantly, they understand the world through a child’s eyes and deeply love children. Without this, it would be impossible to implement the principles of humanistic pedagogy. <\/p>\n
Every day spent at school is interesting and engaging in its own way. The school’s teachers know how to engage students and demonstrate by example that any work can be enjoyable. Respect, the ability to listen and be a friend to children, personal passion, complete dedication, and a positive attitude are a major component of the school’s teachers’ academic success. Of course, the Istochnik school is a source of knowledge, a unique atmosphere, a warm attitude toward children, small class sizes, excellent facilities, and well-established services (high-quality meals, clean restrooms, interior design, furniture, and a cultural program). All of this is certainly important, but not the most important. <\/p>\n
School is the longest period of a person’s life, when they learn, when they are imbued not only with knowledge but also with certain behavioral stereotypes, as school is a structure for the reproduction of social relationships. In the past, the educational process was formatted as a process of knowledge transfer, while many human qualities in demand today were not consciously conveyed. Back then, an industrialized model of human beings was created, requiring them to work with a limited amount of knowledge. <\/p>\n
Today’s students at the Istochnik School are creative in their approach to any process and self-organized. We develop a whole range of social skills: leadership, time management, teamwork, and interpersonal communication. <\/p>\n
A person is shaped by their environment. It’s a mistake to think that a child’s time at school is only a learning process. Every school has its own environment, even those without a distinct philosophy.
